Dear friends!
On July 4, 2026, as part of the VII International School Science Conference-Competition, a popular science lecture titled “GIS and Remote Sensing Methods in Climate Change Research” will take place.
Speaker: M.I. Zakharov, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, PhD, Associate Professor at the Institute of Natural Sciences, M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU)
Start: 3:00 PM (MSK+6, Yakutsk time)
Format: Hybrid (in-person and online)
Venue: Boiling Point (Tochka Kipeniya) NEFU, “Vostok” Hall, 4th floor (for in-person participants)
Connection link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88906786161?pwd=QfBalQa4VYam3UlQ2l1Vn1lymEgO7W.1
(for online participants)
During the lecture, attendees will learn how local and regional landscapes respond to ongoing climate change. Using satellite imagery and computer models, participants will trace the visible changes in vegetation, water bodies, and land cover over recent decades. The lecture will also demonstrate how scientists build maps of the future based on various climate scenarios, and what these projections mean for the places where we live.
We invite conference participants and everyone interested to join the lecture!
It promises to be both engaging and informative!
